KUCHING: Residents of Taman Desa Ilmu and Taman Uni Garden in Kota Samarahan have been cooperating well with the active case detection programme for Covid-19 being conducted there, said Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos.

He said residents in the two residential areas felt more assured with the implementation of the programme, knowing that their fellow residents in the area were well and safe.

“The residents of Taman Uni Garden and Taman Desa Ilmu are pretty happy about the ongoing door-to-door screening and testing.

“Initially, before the exercise, many were a little apprehensive and cautious, but not anymore as they now know the purpose of the programme,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He shared that those he had met over the previous two days had commended the programme as they would know for certain if they were positive or negative for Covid-19.

“After explanations by the medical personnel, people feel more relaxed and pleased. A few were initially a bit apprehensive and fearful, but upon understanding the purpose of the exercise, they opened their gates and cooperated,” said Minos, who is also a resident of Taman Uni Garden.

He said that all Sarawakians wished for the Covid-19 pandemic to be over so that normal life could return.

“That is why people are complying with the movement control order (MCO) and government directives, including related exercises like the active case detection programme at Taman Desa Ilmu and Taman Uni Garden,” he said.

These two residential areas were selected for the active case detection programme due to the high number of positive Covid-19 cases there.
