Good policies will be continued says new Works Minister

KUCHING: Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi who has been appointed as the Works Minister under the new Federal Cabinet said that he will give his full commitment in ensuring that every effort and initiative taken under this ministry will benefit all Malaysians, including Sabah and Sarawak.

The Kapit MP also said that he will also ensure a smooth administration planning in the country in his capacity as the new Works Minister, and also continue the policies of the previous ministry which have been proven to be effective while also improving policies that can bring benefits to the people and the country.

“I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for my appointment as the Minister of Public Works in the Cabinet of the unity government.

“Not to forget also to the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for trusting me to represent the party and the state to serve at the federal level again.

“I realise that this responsibility comes with great challenges. However, I will give my full commitment and effort,” he said.

Nanta, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secretary-general said he will continue to respect the role of civil servants from all levels of the ministry who have contributed a lot of ideas and energy.

“We will continue to work together as a team for the sake of our beloved country.

“I also want to emphasise that I am a ‘minister for all, not just for Sarawakians’. So with that, I will ensure that every effort and initiative taken under this ministry will bring good to all Malaysians, including Sabah and Sarawak,” he pointed out.

He also hopes that the whole community and those in his ministry can continue to move forward and focus on restoring the country, especially from the point of view of the economy and the wellbeing of the people.

“Let us set aside all differences and together focus on efforts to rebuild the country so that it returns to the right track in order to be respected in the eyes of the world,” he added.

Nanta, 64, was previously the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. He became the MP for Kapit since 1999.
