KUCHING: The first day of vaccination in both Simunjan and Gedong was successful with the targeted number of vaccine recipients achieved, said Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

The Batang Sadong assemblywoman added that the jab centre at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) Gedong achieved its daily target of 250 recipients on Monday (June 14).

However, only 90 percent of the elderly and the high-risk group turned up for the vaccination at the centre at Dewan Mesra Simunjan.

“The Ministry of Health (MOH), officers and staff of Batang Sadong on field reported that the remaining 10 percent was absent because some were difficult to contact while others had received their jabs at other vaccination centres.

“I hope those who have yet to come for their vaccination will come tomorrow or any day before June 19 at the designated centres to receive their vaccination,” she said.

Nancy revealed that the vaccination centre at Dewan Mesra Simunjan started to fill up around 10.30 am while the centre at the RTC Munggu Lalang was swarming with people around 2.30 pm onwards.

“I would like to remind all vaccine recipients who had appointments tomorrow and the next day not to come at the last minute to avoid any inconvenience or congestion at the centres.

“We need to make sure there are not too many people at one time as we need to abide to the standard operation procedures (SOPs). “I would also like to thank everyone involved in the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Simunjan district, especially the MOH, Simunjan District Office, Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Rela, volunteers, MyVCCE, MyVACC, as well as the monitoring team from Samarahan Division Resident Office and others,” she added.
