KUCHING: A total of 8,600 participants from Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei took part in the ‘Professional Talk Programme: National Level Drug Abuse 2021’ organised by the National Association for the Prevention of Drugs (Pemadam) Sarawak with Pemadam Kanowit District in collaboration with Kanowit District Education Office.
The programme, held online from July 31 to August 1, attracted 6,500 people on the second day.
Pemadam Sarawak chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the warm response to the two-day programme showed the interest and support of the community, including the youth.
“This programme is one of the initiatives implemented by Pemadam Sarawak as an effort to provide awareness to the community in Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia on the dangers of drug abuse and substances that can destroy our future,” said Abdul Karim Tuesday (Aug 3).
“Congratulations to the organisers led by State Education director Dr Norisah Suhaili who is also the head of Pemadam Sarawak Education Bureau for their success in organising the programme,” he said.
Abdul Karim added that Pemadam Sarawak would organise more similar programmes and activities in the future.
The public, especially youth and students, would be invited to participate, he said.
