Good response to RMN’s 85th anniversary Open Day

KUCHING: More than 6,000 visitors boarded KD Gagah Samudera and KD Teguh Samudera, the two training vessels of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in conjunction with the navy’s 85th anniversary Open Day yesterday.

By 2.30pm, 5,025 visitors had been recorded. The vessels were berthed at Pending Port.

Besides enhancing ties with the public, the aims of the open day were to highlight the lives and training of RMN trainees and encourage youths to join the navy.

The training vessels are used to train 101 officers in-training on navigation, sea adaptation training and introduce them to domestic and international ports.

During the open day yesterday, booths sold RMN souvenirs and promoted the West Malaysian food.

At 12.30pm, the visitors were surprised by a flash mob dance performed by the RMN personnel.
