MIRI: Donating blood seems to be the trend here during the movement control order (MCO) period.

Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri District Miri Blood Recruitment Committee deputy chairman Karambir Singh observed that there have been an increasing number of parents who brought their children to donate blood.

“I hope more would follow suit,” he said.

Since the implementation of the MCO on March 18, MRC Miri District has registered 1,670 blood donors and1,425 have donated their blood to date.

“In today’s blood drive event, we recorded 12 new donors,” Karambir said.

He said the blood drive received a good turnout — 61 people registered to donate blood and out of that number, 52 have been successful.

“I’m happy to see Remina Luhong Ding (20th pint), a teacher from SMK Lutong, coming here as she brought along her daughter Rebecca Joy Aren who donated her first pint,” he said.

Kudos to all the Miri blood donors and your help to save lives, Karambir added.
