KUCHING: The Sarawak government is planning to expand its very own television station, TVS, to a digital terrestrial television platform under MYTV that is free of monthly subscriptions next year.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said this year, TVS will be on a trial run with Astro first.

“As a new station, it is necessary for TVS to be on trial run for a certain period of time,” he said at the official launching of TVS at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Sunday night (Oct 11).

He said this was to ensure technical stability and that the workflow is up to industry standards.

“With the existence of TVS, we hope more doors will open for Sarawak to be better known in other parts of world and hype up the state’s tourism potential.

“Therefore, I would like to congratulate Sarawak Media Group (SMG), the people behind TVS, for bringing Sarawak to a whole new level. For putting Sarawak one up above the rest of the states that will certainly go down in history,” he said.
