KUCHING: The government has taken the views of various parties into consideration in order to help ease the people’s burden during this challenging time.

Senator Jaziri Alkaf A. Suffian

Sarawak National Alliance chairman Senator Jaziri Alkaf A. Suffian, Saratok MP Datuk Ali Biju, Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin said in a joint statement on Thursday (July 1) that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government was focusing on helping those severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We have seen the government coming up with the Pemulih economic recovery package, ensuring that B40, M40 and T20 groups are not left out.”

“Among them, the announcement of a six-month moratorium for all borrowers and the withdrawal of EPF savings on a monthly basis – a good news for all Malaysians because this clearly helps ease the financial burden of the people.

“The assistance is expected to benefit more than 11 million households, senior citizens and single individuals in the B40 and M40 categories.

They also stated that assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was important for the national economy, and SMEs could breathe a sigh of relief with some of the approaches taken to assist them, such as reducing employer costs, and supporting digitalisation efforts.

“For traders, especially SMEs, they also receive direct and indirect support through various assistance available in Pemulih.

“Among others, the additional payment measures under the Special Caring Grant (GKP) 4.0 and the Wage Subsidy Programme (PSU) 4.0, expected to benefit more than 2.5 million workers nationwide.”
