KUCHING: The Sarawak government continues to make it a priority to improve basic infrastructure facilities such as roads, especially for those living in the rural areas.

“Infrastructure development is also important for the socioeconomic development of the people, which is the main foundation of the nation’s economic wellbeing,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

The Santubong MP said this in a Facebook post on Thursday (Jan 27), in which he congratulated the state Public Works Department (JKR) on the opening of the 1.2-kilometre Nyabau Flyover, the state’s longest.

“The flyover route starts from the traffic light of Bintulu to Miri, and the main route heads towards Sibu, starting from the traffic lights of Bintulu to Sibu,” said Wan Junaidi.

JKR Sarawak in a recent statement said the flyover, which was part of Work Package Contract 10 of the Pan Borneo Highway, was officially opened to the public on Jan 25.
