KUCHING: In order to be endorsed by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), a candidate must come from any of the four component parties in the coalition.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah stated that GPS had already identified all 82 seats where GPS candidates will stand.

“To add candidates from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak will be confusing for voters.

“Nonetheless, we will address this issue well because at the federal level, we support Perikatan Nasional (PN),” he said.

According to him, the stability of PN is also quite dependent on the GPS so we hope that PN would reciprocate nicely when we face the state election. Presently, everyone knows that PN and Bersatu are supportive of GPS as Sarawak state government.

This comment is in line with a recent report stating that the federal Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said Bersatu would use GPS as a ticket to field their candidates in the coming election.
