KUCHING: Leaders of the various component parties in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) attended the virtual Perikatan Nasional (PN) Presidential Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Sunday morning.

The meeting was also attended by the presidents of other parties, namely Bersatu, Umno, PAS, MCA, MIC, PBS, STAR and SAPP while PBRS was represented by the deputy president.

“I am thankful that the meeting which lasted about two hours, was held in a familiar atmosphere and they had welcomed the briefings on the Emergency Proclamation by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Takiyuddin Hasan, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Health deputy director-general Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail,” Muhyiddin said in his Facebook post on Sunday evening (Jan 24).

He said various issues were discussed and all participants were satisfied with the explanation and a lengthy discussion on the Emergency Ordinance.

“We also discussed the management of the emergency and Covid-19 pandemic as well as the vaccine immunisation plan which will begin next month (Feb),” he said.

Muhyiddin said the Presidential Council would continue to be the highest discussion platform for all political parties in the PN government to ensure political stability and smooth administration of the government as well as the safety and well-being of the people and the country.
