KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will leave it to its chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to decide on the coalition’s choice of Prime Minister.

Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said GPS will first discuss the matter with fellow party members.

“We will see how first, the most important thing is who the government of the day is. We will do an analysis and discuss with each other, then the Premier of Sarawak will make the final decision,” he said when met by reporters at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex yesterday.

Abang Johari has previously confirmed that GPS supports Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to become the 10th Prime Minister thus forming a federal government among four alliances including Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

However, BN chairman and UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had stated that they did not negotiate with GPS for the agreement to form a government with PN.

In this regard, Tiong who is also the Member of Parliament for Bintulu said at the moment all parties do not know who has enough numbers to form a government and who supports whom.

“If you look at social media right now, the situation is still a mess… let them solve the problem first,” he added.
