SIBU: A political analyst has opined that the line-up of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidates for the 15th general election (GE15) is a good combination of experienced individuals and enthusiastic newcomers.

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) board director Dr Gregory Hii said the list had a good racial balance and also included two additional female candidates.

“Looking at the GPS line-up, I feel impressed as it seems like a winning formula.

“In fact, in the mind of many analysts, GPS’s victory is beyond doubt although the danger may be largely in the urban seats, especially the central region of Sarawak or Sibu.

“But with excellent corporation among members of SUPP and help of component parties in GPS, these seats are winnable,” he told New Sarawak Tribune today.

However, Hii stressed that voters should treasure their rights to vote in order to help to return their candidates to Parliament.

“As many are understood to be happy and satisfied with the performance of the GPS state government under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“It is believed that it can secure the good electoral result and strengthen its bargaining power with the federal government.”
