GPS MPs expected to meet Agong today

KUCHING: Several Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Members of Parliament (MPs) are expected to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara today.

According to Malaysiakini, among those who have been summoned to the place including Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP); Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Aro Dagang from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS); Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, both from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

Yesterday, Sarawak premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said GPS would leave it to the King to decide on who the next prime minister should be.

“Considering the political turmoil in Peninsular Malaysia, GPS is of the opinion that the people’s mandate should be respected,” he said in a statement.

Abang Johari, who is also the GPS chairman said the interests of the country should be prioritised to form a stable government that focuses on the people’s needs.
