MIRI: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) denies any connection with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement released today, GPS secretary-general Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi stressed that GPS coalitions were giving undivided support to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He added GPS components – Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) remained committed to a stable federal government for the good of the people and national economy.

“While the country is at war to stop the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, it’s best for the country to give full focus in restoring the economy and the wellbeing of the people.

“As the secretary-general of GPS and PBB, I would like to remind Datuk Seri Anwar to stop the immature political game in order to achieve personal interests and ambitions,” he added.

He said, as a veteran and experienced politician, Anwar should stop any attempt to create instability in the country that would only adversely affect the people and the economy.

“The interests of the people and the country at a time when we are facing the challenges posed by Covid-19 pandemic that has claimed thousands of lives around the world, need to be given priority.

“GPS strongly rejects the move by PKR,” he reiterated.

He added that PKR was allied with irresponsible and arrogant parties, throwing accusations saying Sarawak would go bankrupt under the GPS leadership.

“Sarawak, led by Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will continue to give full support to the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin,” he asserted.
