GPS secures first win in GE15

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secured its first win in 15th General Election (GE15) after Ahmad Johnie Zawawi bested his opponent, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Hud Andri for the Igan parliamentary seat.

He won by a majority of 14,662 against Hud’s 1,162 votes.

When met at the sidelines after the official result was announced, Ahmad Johnie said he pledges to continue bringing more developments in the Igan parliamentary constituency.

The GPS candidate who retained his seat for a second term expressed his gratitude for the strong support from the people of Igan.

“God willing, this mandate and trust will be translated in my high commitment as an elected representative.

“I will continue to bring developments such as infrastructures and facilities to Igan,” he said when met at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) earlier tonight (Nov 19).

Ahmad pointed out that in the previous term, he had focused on education developments in Igan.

He said this is due to the significance and importance of education.

“The future developments of Igan depends on the new generation who are well educated.

“This will enable Igan to continue to prosper and progress in the future,” he added.
