KUCHING: The vision for greater development in Miri Division can now be fulfilled with strong representation by the respective lawmakers from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
In saying this, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) vice-president Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the onus is now on the people to help realise the vision.
“I thank the people of Miri for giving us a strong mandate in the last state election. After 10 years, we finally have a complete GPS team in Miri.
“Now that we have a full team, we will do our very best to achieve the vision for a greater Miri. This is important so that we can create opportunities for young people and the businesses.
“I appeal to everyone to work together with our team, not only for Miri City but Miri Division as a whole,” he said.
He said this during his address at the Miri-Sibuti Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) virtual Chinese New Year (CNY) open house celebration today.
Separately, Lee, who is transport minister, said the CNY celebration is an opportunity to keep the spirit of kinship alive in the state.
“It gives us an opportunity to renew and strengthen our relationship so that Sarawak will continue to be a model for the whole country and working together as one Sarawak family,” he said.
The state government in anticipation of the celebration has done its part to facilitate the return of Sarawakians to the state.
“This year, the state government has approved an increase in flights so they can come back with their families as well.
“We increased the flights from 375 a week to 562 a week so that we can have more and lower fares,” he said.
