KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will contest in all 82 state seats in the coming 12th State Election, reiterated Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian on Sunday.

“It has been said on many occasions that GPS will contest all 82 seats,” he said in a Facebook post recently.

The Batu Kawah assemblyman was responding to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s remarks during his two-day visit to Sarawak recently that Bersatu would leave it to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to decide if Bersatu candidates would stand in the upcoming state election.

Dr Sim said that GPS’s stand remained unchanged even if the decision was left to the coalition to decide.

GPS’s four component parties are Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and SUPP.

With Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) expressing its commitment to assist the state ruling coalition in the 12th State Election, how will GPS accommodate Bersatu candidates in both the state and general elections? This is the question that arises now.

In Sarawak, Bersatu has one constituency seat, namely Krian held by Datuk Ali Biju while state Bersatu member Datuk Willie Mongin is the incumbent MP for Puncak Borneo.
