KUCHING: The names of the thirty-one candidates that will be contesting in the upcoming General Election (GE) under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) flag will be revealed after the Election Commission (EC) announces the nomination date.

“There will be new faces contesting and we will be contesting under one party – GPS and for our policy ‘Sarawak First’,” said its chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said this during a press conference after the GPS meeting at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters today.

Disclosing that GPS has decided which areas the component parties and candidates will be contesting at, he said that the coalition is prepared for the upcoming parliamentary polls.

“We have set up committees to carry out our duties from all angles and also carry out the trust that was given to us through the last state election. What we need (now) is a strong voice at the parliamentary level,” he said.
