LUNDU: The people of Telok Melano and Telok Serabang here are urged to rally behind the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government in the upcoming state election.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tanjung Datu Youth chief Azizul Annuar Adenan said PBB had managed to win 100 percent of the votes from the two areas in the last state election and the Tanjung Datu by-election after that.

“Telok Melano and Telok Serabang are PBB and GPS strongholds, it is the dream of my late father, (former chief minister) Pehin Sri Adenan Satem to see that Telok Melano is linked with the Pan Borneo Highway.

“He had wanted to see the people in Telok Melano and Telok Serabang to have better accessibility.

“Back then we had to use boats and helicopters to send assistances to the people during the rainy season. Now, the area can be accessed using a road which was built at a cost of RM580 million, thanks to our government,” he said at the Tanjung Datu Tautan Kasih programme held at a homestay in Telok Serabang over the weekend.

Azizul said Telok Melano and Telok Serabang had witnessed a change of fortune with it now being a tourist destination.

“This morning when we were on our way here, there were a lot of cars using the Rambungan ferry to go to Telok Melano and Telok Serabang. This shows that Tanjung Datu is becoming a destination for tourists to visit.

“Due to that, we will continue charting further development in Telok Melano and Telok Serabang through the projek rakyat,” he said.
