KUCHING: The current state ruling coalition (Gabungan Parti Sarawak – GPS) will do its utmost to ensure that it wins big in the next state election.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring), Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, was confident that it had the means to secure that sort of victory.

“With determination and proper resources we can shape the future of the state,” she said after launching GPS Samariang at the old State Legislative Building today.

“We cannot rely on others to set our direction as we want the future of Sarawak to be in our own hands.”

As such, she wants Sarawakians to unite regardless of race or religion, adding that although GPS is not a part of the federal power structure; the state government has a clear goal to continue the development agenda of the state.

Concerning Sarawak’s rights as a partner state in Malaysia as enshrined in MA63, she said the state government would continue to fight to get them restored or given back.

Earlier on, Petra Jaya Member of Parliament Dato Fadillah Yusuf said the launch of GPS Samariang was a step in preparing for the state election in 2021.

“We must not sit comfortably because we do not want history to be repeated. We have to work hard to make sure everything works,” he said.
