SRI AMAN: Sixty-nine Buddhist associations from Saratok, Lubok Antu, Betok and Engkelili took part in the 126th Chap Goh Mei celebration here last Saturday night.

The event, which marked the end of the Chinese New Year celebration, was organised by Simanggang Soon Heng Society.

Themed “Makmur Bersama” (Prosperous Together), it featured various colourful performances.

For the celebration, the town was gaily decorated with all 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac — Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.

Among those who took part in the fun were Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Soon Heng’s life honorary chairman Datuk Tan Chong Meng, state government officers as well as community leaders.
