SARIKEI: A total of 74 bodies here benefitted from minor rural project (MRP) grants worth RM176,000 today.

The grants were presented by Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

Huang handed over the grants at a simple ceremony held at the Repok service centre here. Among the recipients were parent-teacher-associations (PTAs), other associations and religious institutions as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

In his brief remarks, Huang reminded the recipients to use the money well, their respective members must be informed about the grants, he said.

Aside from that, he also said that he always emphasize the importance of education. 

“Since I was elected as the people’s representative for this constituency, I have been very focused in the field of education.

Therefore, I will always give support to the schools’ PTAs because PTA is a very important body for a school,” he said. Huang also reminded parents to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) that had been implemented by the school
