The High Court has rejected the defamation lawsuit filed by DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng against Tan Teik Cheng, the Deputy President of MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association), and The Star newspaper.

In the ruling, the judge stated that Tan’s remarks, which were published in The Star and pertained to Lim and funding for Chinese schools, constituted fair comments rather than defamatory statements.

Consequently, the Court has directed Lim to bear the costs of RM20,000 to be paid to Tan and RM30,000 to be paid to The Star.
