Gurdwara Sahib temple in Miri gets RM200k grant

MIRI: Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting on Wednesday (May 1) visited the Gurdwara Sahib temple in Jalan Kubu here and presented a RM200,000 grant under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

According to Ting, the construction is well underway and some areas within the temple like the kitchen have been well constructed and have been completed.

“This is all because of their great efforts and also with the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, some UNIFOR funding (I am) so happy to be here to represent the government to handover the cheque.

“The amount is RM600,000 and this is the third allocation of RM600,000 (which) i received last week,” he told the media.

He said that the first amount was presented in 2020 amounting to RM1.2mil, and subsequently in 2021 and 2024 was RM600,000 bringing a total of RM2.4mil.

“Out of this RM2.4mil everything is done (and used) here. I am so happy, they are doing a wonderful job, firstly I congratulate them, and on behalf of them, I thank the Premier and also Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the Deputy Premier who is in charge of UNIFOR, for this allocation.

“For them (Gurdwara Sahib) this money is good news and I say congratulations to them,” he added.

Ting also revealed that the Gurdwara Sahib temple is expected to be fully completed by the end of the year.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Gurdwara Sahib Miri president Gurmok Singh.
