PADAWAN: Narcotics police nabbed an unemployed man for having syabu worth RM1,480 here on yesterday (June 6).

Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the arrest was made around 12.25pm in front of a house at Mile 6, Jalan Matang.

“During inspections, the suspect handed over two plastic packets containing crystalline substance believed to be syabu.

“The drugs weighing 7.40g and valued around RM1,480, was seized as evidence,” he said

Background checks found that the 37-year-old, who tested positive for syabu, had four prior records related to drug offences.

Abang Zainal added that the suspect had been abusing drugs for more than three years and he obtained his supply once per week from a man called ‘Tokey Ice’.

Efforts to identify and track down the supplier are ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
