PADAWAN: Police have arrested two local men who have a chequered criminal history as well as a local woman for suspected involvement in a vehicle theft.

Acting on public information at about 9.15am, a motorcycle patrol unit was despatched to Lorong 3, Jalan Stephen Yong yesterday.

In a statement Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said two men and a woman were seen trying to start a Perodua Kancil.

“All three suspects aged between 26 and 36 were arrested while they were inside in the car. The team also seized a T-shaped metal and a fake plate number.

“Inspections found that it was a stolen vehicle which was reported missing at the Kuching police headquarters (IPD) on Thursday (June 16) at 1.59pm,” he said.

Abang Zainal said background checks found that the two male suspects have 42 criminal records between them related to gang robbery, vehicle theft and trespassing.

Investigations are continuing.
