Habitual offenders jailed five years

KUCHING: Two local men with previous convictions were sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and one stroke of the cane by the Sessions Court here today for taking and having drugs.

Clynton Bell Beledis, 27, and Ng Kia Lung, 34, pleaded guilty before judges Maris Agan and Jason Juga.

Clynton was found to have consumed amphetamine and methamphetamine here at 9.30 pm on Nov 25 two year ago.

The court ordered Clynton who has two previous criminal records for a similar offence to start serving his jail sentence and to undergo two years’ supervision upon his release.

Meanwhile, Ng stood charged with having in his possession methamphetamine and amphetamine at 3pm on July 18, last year.He was convicted for a similar offence in 2008, 2011 and 2019.

The court ordered him to serve his sentence from the date of his remand on Feb 2 and comply with two years’ supervision after his release.
