MIRI: A terrified housewife from Batu Niah found a 0.5 metre-long Asian whip snake hiding inside the air conditioning unit of her living room this afternoon.

According to Acting Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, prior to the discovery, the housewife had heard strange hissing sound and subsequently found the reptile curling inside the unit.

Worried, she immediately called the Bomba Batu Niah for help.

“Upon receiving the distressed called at 1.47pm a team of Batu Niah firemen were deployed to the house which is located at about 3km from the station,” he said.

They managed to secure the house from the snake within 10 minutes.
The reptile was then released back into the wild.
