Hand-outs due gratitude to frontliners

KUCHING: The frontliners working to curb Covid-19 state-wide received their due appreciation through the ‘Terima Kasih Frontliners’ programme by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan who presented contributions to frontliners lauded the programme, describing it as a manifestation of the government’s recognition of the group’s efforts.

“I would like to thank Ukas for providing food supply to them (frontliners) while carrying out their enforcement duties.

“Thank you to all the frontliners who have worked hard in efforts to curb this Covid-19 pandemic,” he said when visiting police personnel manning roadblocks in Limbang on Saturday.

During his visit, Awang Tengah also spent some time talking to the policemen on duty while inspecting the situation at their control base.

Meanwhile, Limbang district police chief Superintendent Parum Niot when interviewed expressed his gratitude for the contribution given by Ukas to his men.

“I am very grateful and thankful to Ukas for the food aid as well attending to the needs of my staff in the field.

“We are on duty 24/7, rain or shine. This is in return for the sacrifices we have made, reciprocated by other government agencies,” he said.

The ‘Terima Kasih Frontliners’ programme in Limbang was the last for the northern zone after being held in Lawas on Friday. Earlier similar programmes were held in Kuching, Miri and Sibu.

Also present were Deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah, Agriculture Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang.
