KUCHING: State Tourism, Art, Culture and Youth Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah yesterday expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for the appointment of 11 Sarawakians to his Cabinet line-up.
“I thank him for having appointed Sarawakians as his ministers and deputy ministers. They are known for their vast political experience.
“I believe they could help the prime minister bring Malaysia to greater height. Congratulations to all ministers and deputy ministers,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday.
On Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri’s appointment as Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abdul Karim said her experience as minister under the Barisan Nasional would help her grow the tourism industry.
“I hope to work closely with Nancy. With her helming the ministry, I am sure that the industry would grow more,” he said.
Yesterday, Muhyiddin unveiled the names of his ministers and their deputies.
The new Cabinet has two additional portfolios — environment and Sabah-Sarawak affairs. The Sabah-Sarawak portfolio would enable the government to tackle development and socio-economic issues of the two states in the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
