KUCHING: Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh says hard work will be the prerequisite for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to retain the Bidayuh-majority seats.
“We still need to work hard, to provide the necessary assistance to help uplift the living standard of and to reach out to the rakyat.
“At the same time, we should get rid of the negative perception that has been fostered by the opposition against GPS leaders,” he stressed when asked to comment on reports, quoting Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong, that GPS would be able to deliver all eight Bidayuh-majority seats in the next state election.
Manyin, who is also assemblyman for Tebedu, one of the eight Bidayuh-majority seats, made the statement when approached by reporters after the Gawai Dayak open house at the Dayak Bidayuh Nasional Association (DBNA) centre here.
“Yes, we will deliver all eight (seats),” he was quoted as saying.
Miro said it was also crucial for GPS to show to the rakyat that its leaders could deliver to the people.
On a personal note, Miro said “I prefer not to be complacent but rather work closely with the rakyat so that the rakyat could feel my presence.”
Apart from Serembu and Tebedu, the six other Bidayuh-majority seats are Tasik Biru (Datuk Henry Harry Jinep), Opar (Datuk Ranum Mina), Bukit Semuja (John Ilus), Kedup (Martin Ben), Tarat (Datuk Roland Sagah) and Mambong (Datuk Dr Jerip Susil).
