SRI AMAN: Infrastructure is one of the basic components of development needed by the rural people to improve their socio-economic well-being, said Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

“In this regard, roads and bridges are among the best means to help them raise their socio-economic status,” he said when visiting a proposed Rural Transformation Project (RTP) at Ulu Paku, Undop here recently.

In addition, the Community Well-being Assistant Minister said unused land in rural or remote areas could be set aside for roads and bridges for the benefit of local communities.

According to him, his working visits to project sites often involved implementing agencies such as the Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) and Sri Aman District Council (MDSA).

These visits, he said, were important for him as an elected representative to keep track of projects until they are fully completed.

“It is important for me to ensure that all projects implemented in my area are on schedule and done according to the specifications,” he said.
