SIMANGGANG: Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis on Saturday paid his last respects to the late Kampung Kejatau Chinese Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairman Wong Chee Nguong.

Wong passed away on Mar 25 at the age of 101 years, and Harden said it was a big loss for the Chinese community and for Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).

“His contributions in helping to develop the community and also towards the party are greatly appreciated,” said Harden.

The Simanggang assemblymen expressed his gratitude to the family for donating RM1,000 to SUPP Simanggang Branch to be used for the party’s activities.

“In the new norm of visiting the deceased, compliance with the SOP to curb the spread of Covid-19 pandemic is something that must be complied with as this affects public health.

“Therefore, I see it being done and thanks to the sensitivity of the family of the late Wong,” he added.
