KUCHING: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House hosted by the Malaysian Scout Association Sarawak Branch has served as a gathering point for a diverse community of scouts in a harmonious atmosphere.

Sarawak Scout Council deputy president Datuk Mohamad Safri Abdillah said the event is a manifestation of the fellowship and togetherness among scouts, regardless of race and religion.

“We must maintain this to pass on to our grandchildren a state that is peaceful and prosperous,” he said in his speech at the event held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here last night (May 4).

He added that he had high hopes for Scout leaders at every level to continue fostering a love for the state and country.

“We don’t need to hold high positions to contribute to a stronghold for maintaining harmony among the races in Sarawak,” he said.

The event was graced by the presence of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
