KUCHING: News that some State ministers and frontliners have been infected with Covid-19 virus and undergoing quarantine is saddening, said political observer Datuk Peter Minos.

“These personalities have been attending meetings and moving around because they are doing their best in helping us to fight this crisis.

“We salute them and respect their hard work and efforts. May they be in good health and God bless them,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom are undergoing 14-days self-quarantine at home due to having contact with a Covid-19 positive person during a State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) meeting on March 27.

Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil was tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday and is now being treated at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is also undergoing self-quarantine after having close contact with Dr Jerip in a recent meeting.

Meanwhile, Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, who himself is a Covid-19 survivor, had conveyed his well wishes to Dr Jerip.

“Get a good rest and speedy recovery,” he said in his Facebook post.
