KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has suggested having a fourth phase for the immunisation programme in red zones in Sarawak.
According to him, Sibu, Kapit, Bintulu and other red zones should be in the fourth phase of the programme.
“Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas has written and spoken to the National Security Council (MKN) about this,” he said.
Dr Sim spoke about this to reporters during his visit to a Covid-19 vaccine registration counter of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) at Mile 7 wet market in Kota Sentosa on Sunday (March 28).
“It is also important to discuss this with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when he visits our state on April 1,” he said.
“We want to talk about vaccines. Other people might think the discussion is about election, but at the moment, to me, vaccine is more important to save lives.”
Last week Sarawak received 9,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines which would be given to frontliners.
“We will also try to get as much supply of Pfizer-BioNtech vaccines as possible and look into other vaccine supplies as advised by the Sarawak Covid-19 Vaccine Advisory Group led by Dr Andrew Kiyu,” he said.
Dr Sim was also told that 600,000 Sinovac vaccines will arrive in April and almost 3.7 million Pfizer-Biontech vaccines will arrive in April, May and June for the whole of Malaysia.
