KUCHING: The expansion of Kampung Haji Baki Hawker Centre in Padawan will provide more opportunities for vendors and hawkers to ply their trade, said Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang.

“The state government has allocated a total of RM600,000 to expand the centre. It’s a good spot because it’s near the road, but not too near.

“There are a lot of parking spaces inside so it’s not dangerous,” he said when met with reporters at the Kampung Haji Baki Hawker Centre here in Padawan on Monday.

He explained that the upgrading work would be materialised by end of this year.

“We are now waiting for the Land and Survey Department to approve the upgrading work.

“Once approved, we will continue to do the drawing and will open tender immediately,” he added.
