Hawkers encouraged to apply for aid

SARIKEI: Repok assemblyman called on hawkers to apply for the Sarawakku Sayang Special Aid (BKSS) of RM1,500 to ease their burden during the movement control order (MCO).

Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said that the aid benefited every group including the public, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), micro enterprises, hawkers, small traders, front-line medical staff, police and others.

Huang added that he understood the government’s action to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection by implementing the MCO.

“Although the MCO had a negative impact on the financial economy, various efforts have been made by the government to control the spread of the epidemic,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

Sarikei District Council has opened a mobile counter at Jalan Layang-layang, here from 9am to 12pm starting from April 21.

On April 28, the counter will be put up at Taman Selera Baji Jaya from 9am until 12pm and on April 30, the counter will be at Jakar Library from 9am until 12pm.

Besides that, N45 Repok Service Centre also opened up an application counter at Jalan Rumbia from 9am until 11.30am to help hawkers register and fill out the application form.

Huang expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the special aid package which was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, especially for unlicensed hawkers, traders and small businesses.
