KUCHING: Incumbent Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni is confident of winning his seat again in the coming state election.
“Of course,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when asked whether he would retain the seat.
He noted that one of the reasons was there was not much competition from the opposition.
“So far, I heard that Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) was interested but there’s no confirmation.
“Meanwhile, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) branch in Demak Laut has been dismantled already,” he said.
However, he stressed that he cannot be idle or complacent as he must continue his work every day to ensure his best service for the constituents of Demak Laut.
“Together with the Demak Laut machinery, we are not only being prepared for the election, but as it is our responsibility to solve the people’s problems through issuing land titles as well as housing projects in Sejingkat and Muara Tabuan for instance.
“We will also have a nine-kilometre long road construction from Bako to Buntal as well as a new bridge from Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) going across to Tanjung Bako to reduce the traffic congestion in Samarahan which will also open up my area,” he added.
The underground drainage system project worth RM600,000 in Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman is currently ongoing, he pointed out.
He said this during his visit to the village here on Saturday (Aug 1). His presence was to grace the Qurban ritual together with the local residents after donating a sacrificial cow to the village in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
He also went to visit 11 other locations which received a sacrificial cow each from him.
These listed locations were Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman 1, Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman 2, Masjid Polis Tabuan Jaya, Kampung Tabuan SPC (Surau Cemerlang), Kampung Tabuan Hilir, Kampung Tabuan Lamak, Kampung Tabuan Tengah, Kampung Tabuan Dani, Kampung Semilang, Kampung Bako Ulu and Kampung Bako Hilir.
