Head of State receives courtesy calls

KUCHING: Head of state Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received two courtesy calls in Demak Jaya, here yesterday.

According to Information Department (Japen) statement, the first courtesy call was from committee members of the Forum Remaja Piala Pusingan Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak 2022 led by the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Sarawak Branch director Abang Haliman Abang Julai.

The purpose of the visit was to inform and invite Taib to complete the symbolic presentation of the trophy to the champion of the forum competition from SMK Agama Tun Ahmad Zaidi.

Also present accompanying Abang Haliman were the Sarawak State Education Department deputy director Dr Les Met and SMK Agama Tun Ahmad Zaidi principal Zainab Hussein.

Meanwhile, Taib also received a courtesy call from a group comprising members of the Sarawak State Level Maulidur Rasul 2022 Celebration Committee led by the Sarawak Islamic Council chairman Datuk Misnu Taha.

The courtesy call was to invite Taib as a guest of honour to attend the Thanksgiving and Zikir Maulid Ceremony to be held at At-Taqwa Mosque, Miri on Oct 9, 2022 and the Maulidur Rasul Gathering and Parade Ceremony to be held on Oct 10, 2022 at the Miri Stadium.

Also present were Sarawak Islamic Religious Department director Khalidi Ibrahim and Miri Divisional Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf.
