Head of State receives courtesy calls

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from Chief Justice of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Datuk Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim in Demak Jaya here today.

The purpose of the courtesy visit was to inform Abdul Taib on  the latest developments in judicial matters touching on the Federal Constitution including the appointment of judges in Sarawak.

This was Abang Iskandar’s second courtesy visit after being appointed as the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak on Feb 25, 2020.

Abang Iskandar will also be attending the Reference Proceeding for the deceased court judge at the Kuching Court Complex tomorrow.

On a separate occasion, Abdul Taib received a courtesy call  from the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and Orang Ulu National Association (OUNA) on Tuesday (Aug 2).

The group was led by Datuk Abu Bakar Abdullah @ Tom Belarek and the main purpose of the courtesy visit was to invite Abdul Taib to inaugurate historic places in Long Lama as well as a tree planting ceremony at  Loagan Bunut National Park in conjunction with the latter’s birthday celebration next month.

Also present were SFC’s deputy chief executive officers I and II, SFC head of Ecotourism Division as well as Long Lama district officers and OUNA committee members.
