Head of State, wife join fast-breaking event with less fortunate individuals

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib, joined less fortunate children for the fast-breaking event hosted by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) at Grand Margherita Hotel, yesterday.

A total of 89 children from Rumah Anak-Anak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah in Kuching and Rumah Kanak Kanak Datuk Ajibah Abol in Sri Aman were invited to the event.

Also present were Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Minister Datuk Talib Zulpilip, SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain and SEDC general manager Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir.

According to Aziz, the event is the agency’s second to be organised in conjunction with Ramadan.

“And of course we will treat the children to our famous ‘Macam-Macam Ada’ Ramadan Buffet at Poolside Pavillion after the Maghrib prayers before adjoining for the Isyak and Tarawih prayers.

“This is another CSR initiative for SEDC Sarawak and its subsidiary companies which is aimed at less fortunate children who are in need of our support and attention in view of the coming festive season,” he added.
