KUCHING: Almost three months have passed since its launch in Bintulu, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak is still headless.

Up till now, there is still no clue as to who will eventually lead the party’s Sarawak branch.

Party chairman Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad launched the branch in Bintulu on Dec 1, last year.

It is learnt that the pro-tem leaders are still in a quandary as to who among them would eventually be picked as the rightful candidate.

It is also learnt that the branch would leave the decision solely to Dr Mahathir.

The branch’s pro-tem secretary Jaziri Alkaf told media here yesterday: “We’re waiting for Dr Mahathir to make the decision.”

Jaziri said until yesterday, the party had successfully registered 18,700 members.

He also said that the party, which is a component member of Pakatan Sarawak, was expected to field candidates in the next state elections, which is due not later than June 2021.
