KUCHING: Bukit Begunan assemblyman Mong Dagang said the abuse of drugs is not only in cities but has also spread to rural areas including longhouse communities.

“I urged all village heads to monitor the behaviour of their people and advise them not to commit drug-related offences,” said Mong at a briefing on current issues at Rumah Ramping Gendang, Kampung Klauh Dau, Sri Aman today.

Information Department deputy director, Aziz Abdul Rahman, who was also present, said the programme was for the department to tell people about current issues.

“The purpose is also to get detailed explanation and exchanges views with experts in related fields,” said Aziz.

According to him, the briefing was an effort to address defamation, propaganda, social crimes and inaccurate information circulating in society.

The programme was carried out while complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) as the country is still under the recovery movement control order (RMCO).
