Director-General of Health Malaysia Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah speaks during his visit to Limbang Hospital on Saturday (Sept 24)

LIMBANG: The Ministry of Health (MoH) needs to strengthen the health delivery strategy in this district, said the Director-General of Health.

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this is because the state’s geography makes it challenging to reach all areas by road.

“Apart from that, I hope the management will optimise existing resources and expertise in order to provide quality and beneficial health services for the entire Limbang folk,” he said in a post on his Facebook on Saturday (Sept 24).

During his official visit under the global surgery initiatives (GSI) to the cluster hospital network in East Malaysia, he visited Limbang Hospital after Lawas Hospital on Saturday (Sept 24).

He expressed pride over the achievements and commitment shown by the Sarawak Chapter Global Surgery in strengthening the delivery of surgical services in the state.

“The health system delivery model is a global solution for all countries and can be replicated in low and middle income countries to ensure access and equity to important surgery for all regardless of status.

“In order to establish the nation’s reputation on the global medical arena, I would also like to urge the academic translation of this accomplishment into writing in high-impact publications.

“Congratulations and well done on this achievement and may the Sarawak Chapter Global Surgery continue to be excellent,” he said.
