SERIAN: A total of 108,000 residents from the Serian district registered for vaccine shots which will be received during the second and third phases Covid-19 vaccination programme.

The division’s resident Tuah Suni said the total number of participants was based on the registration received and collected by the Serian Division Health Office.

He explained that the number of registrations through the MySejahtera application was yet to be known because the registration process is still ongoing.

Thus, he encouraged the public to register via MySejahtera or through their respective Ketua Kaum (Community Chiefs).

“The chiefs will be provided with the registration forms in Microsoft Excel format.

“The public may then register by submitting the completed forms to the Serian division health office via email,” Tuah told reporters at the Covid-19 Sarawak Immunization programme at the Serian Community Hall, today.

Tuah together with Kedup Assemblyman, Martin Ben, Serian district police chief, DSP Aswandy Anis and the chief minister’s political secretary, Dr Simon Sinang Bada received the first injection of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The first phase of the immunization programme involves the vaccination of 4,323 frontline workers.

“On Friday, a total of 102 Serian division health workers received the first jab of the vaccine.

“Today, a total of 48 frontlines from various government agencies received the first vaccine injection,” Tuah said today.

He further commented that so far, only one vaccination centre has been established in Serian and the vaccination centres outside Serian will be established depending on the type of vaccine received.

“If the vaccine received can last for a long time, we will set up a vaccination centre outside the Serian area,” said Tuah.
