SIBU: Health screening is the best way to detect a non-communicable disease (NCD) before it is too late, says Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

According to the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, NCD normally did not have any symptoms.

Hence, he urged the public to undergo health screening, especially those who had a record of NCD in their family health history.

“Diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease are non-communicable diseases but the most vital ones are those that have a history in the family.

“They must undergo health screening if possible before they are 40 years old and don’t wait for the symptoms as usually this kind of disease has no symptoms,” he said when met by reporters after officiating at the Free Health Screening Tour at Bahagia Jaya Teku Library here yesterday (Dec 10).

On the programme, Dr Annuar expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Health for choosing seven locations in the Nangka constituency for the programme.

“They offer comprehensive services including physical examination such as BMI, body composition, vital signs, blood, and so on.

“However, blood screening is only for B40 families so take this opportunity to get a free health screening. I recommend anyone who wants to do this examination to fast for 10 hours before coming for the screening,” he said.
