Help teachers boost children’s academic performance, parents urged

SIMUNJAN: Parents need to be active in their involvement in schools to help educators boost their children’s academic performance.

Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee, according to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) report, said parents played an important role and were responsible for the learning process of their children at home.

“Teachers not only play an important role but parents also, providing support and encouragement to children.”

She said this during the SK Tanjung Pisang Selangking Outstanding Student Awards and Quality Day yesterday (Feb 9).

During the ceremony, a total of 68 students received awards for their outstanding achievements.

Rodiyah, who is also a former student of the school, added that she would continue to work with the Public Works Department to accelerate the upgrading of the school.

“I would also request that the Simunjan District Education Office always liaise and provide feedback regarding the status of the school to me.”

Also present at the ceremony were Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris, Simunjan District Education officer Hasbi Ancheh, SK Tanjung Pisang Selangking headmaster Hasiah Gidir, Tanjung Pisang headman Bakeri Jemali and SK Tanjung Pisang Selangking Parent-Teacher Association president Abang Mohammad Kasim Abang Kaderi.
