KUCHING: Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) hopes travel agencies or any relevant ministries will come up with alternative plans for teachers and families who are unable to enjoy their vacations through their prebooked tour packages.

STU president Macky Joseph urged the ministries and concerned parties to look into this issue faced by teachers and families.

“This is because their vacation plans were made very much ahead of the Covid-19 outbreak,” he pointed out.

Macky said the tour packages should remain in open status available for future use while the package cost should be refundable so that the parties involved would not suffer any financial losses.

Macky pointed out that from yesterday until March 22, school students and teachers throughout Sarawak would be having their school break based on the ‘Takwim Sekolah 2020’.
